Nibble's Editorial Team

Our editorial team loves exploring how things work and why. We’re guided by the idea that people stay curious throughout their lives — they just need engaging stories and ideas to reignite that curiosity.

Ever learn one interesting thing and immediately have five more questions? Maybe Cleopatra makes you curious about Ancient Egypt, or spotting mushrooms on a walk makes you wonder why fungi have their own kingdom.

Nibble gives that curiosity a place to go. Across 35+ courses spanning STEM, the humanities, and everyday knowledge, such as gardening and more! You can explore through interactive lessons, games, videos, audio episodes, and chat with historical figures.

Getting more from that variety means choosing what interests you and knowing where to go when one idea leads to another. These seven tips show you how to personalize your learning path, switch between formats, and keep following your curiosity without the hassle.

New to Nibble? Start with what Nibble is and how it works.

How do you make the most of Nibble?

To get more out of Nibble, start by choosing topics that interest you more, so the For You section can bring together content around them.

Let the moment decide what you open. A short break might be enough for a video or a game, while a longer one gives you time for a lesson or an AI tutor chat.

After a lesson, use Things to Remember and the unit quiz as checkpoints. And if something leaves you with another question, take it to the AI tutor and keep exploring.

1. Shape your For You section with your interests

Choose the topics that catch your attention when you first set up Nibble. Then the app brings together different ways to explore them in your For You section.

Say Ancient Egypt catches your eye. You might find a video about Cleopatra's dramatic life, an interactive lesson on Egyptian myths, related games, and other content around the same interest. So one interest can lead you to different ways of exploring it, without having to choose a format first.

Not sure what to open next? Start with the interest, and let For You show you different ways to keep exploring it.

You can explore more of the available topics in this guide to Nibble learning topics.

Choose what interests you, and let Nibble bring different ways to explore it together.

2. Focus on the parts of a topic that interest you most

A broad topic can catch your attention without every part of it being relevant and it's fine! In Nibble, you can choose the subtopics you want to explore and focus your learning path around them.

Take Art. You might be interested in artistic movements and the hidden meanings in paintings, but not art techniques. You can choose the first two and leave the last one out.

Think of a course as a starting point. You don't have to explore every part of Art, History, or another topic at once. Start with the angles that make you want to know more.

3. Update your interests as your curiosity changes

The interests you choose first don't have to stay your interests forever. Nibble lets you change them in Settings at any time, so your learning path can shift with whatever has your attention now.

How to adjust your interests:

  1. Tap the Profile icon in the upper-right corner
  2. Tap Manage next to "You're interested in"
  3. Add or remove topics
  4. Save your changes

That could even be seasonal. In spring, Ornithology and Gardening might make more sense because you're noticing migrating birds, new plants, and changes outside on your walks. By fall, Mycology might catch your attention instead, giving you a reason to find out why fungi belong to their own kingdom.

Let your learning path grow with your interests. This is where personalization becomes more useful. And sometimes a detail you discover in Nibble becomes the thing you bring up with a friend on your next walk.

4. Match the learning format to the moment

A good Nibble session doesn't have to look the same every time. Some moments are better for watching, some for playing, some for listening, and some for digging deeper into a question.

Pick a Nibble format based on the time and attention you have right now.

Available time or situationSuggested experience
Around 2 minutes while waiting for a friendWatch a short video
Up to 5 minutes during a coffee break or in linePlay one round of an educational game
Up to 15 minutes on the subway or during a planned breakComplete an interactive lesson or explore questions with an AI tutor
During a car journey or while doing household choresListen to an audio episode

These are examples rather than fixed durations. Timing varies by the content, and an AI tutor chat can be shorter or longer depending on how far you take the conversation. Find a learning opportunity that fits your day, whether you have two minutes or fifteen.

Got a few minutes? Pick the Nibble format that fits and start exploring.

5. Make the most of interactive lessons

Nibble gives you three ways to work with the same topic: explore it through interactive lessons, recap the key ideas with Things to Remember, and check your understanding with the unit quiz.

Interactive lessons can combine text, activities, illustrations, photos, and video. At the end of each lesson, the Things to Remember section gives you a short recap of the main takeaways. Once you finish a unit, a series of lessons connected by one theme, you can take a quiz to see what you remember.

To get more from that flow:

  1. Work through the lessons in a unit. Explore the topic through the explanations, visuals, and activities.
  2. Pause at Things to Remember. For an extra challenge, try recalling the main ideas before reading the recap, then compare.
  3. Take the unit quiz. Use it to check your understanding and spot anything you may want to revisit.

Trying to recall information before looking at it again is known as retrieval practice. Research suggests that actively retrieving information can improve later retention compared with simply reviewing it.

6. Play a game when you want a lighter session

When you want to stay with a topic without opening an interactive lesson, try one of Nibble's educational games. Depending on the course, you might sort cards, build objects, match pairs, or complete pictures.

In Match the Pairs, you connect related items. For example, a geography game can ask you to match countries with their flags, helping you practice recognition and associations.

Complete the Picture gives you a different kind of challenge. In a history game, you might see a photograph of a notable event or person with part of the image missing and fill in the gap by paying attention to the visual details.

Games give you another way to interact with what you're learning. You can see more examples in this guide to Nibble educational games.

7. Keep exploring with the AI tutor

When one answer gives you another question, follow it. Sometimes the most interesting question comes after the lesson ends. When that happens, bring it to Nibble's AI tutor and keep exploring the topic in more detail.

For example, you've been learning about mythology and start wondering how two gods are related. Or maybe a story reminds you of another tradition and you want to compare the two. You can ask the AI tutor directly and take the topic beyond the prepared content.

It's especially useful when your curiosity gets more specific than the question you started with. Instead of stopping at what the lesson covers, use the chat to dig into the details that caught your attention.

To Sum Up

Nibble works best when you start with something you genuinely want to know more about. From there, choose the part of the topic that interests you, pick the format that suits the time you have, and keep going when a new question comes up.

FAQ

What is the best way to use Nibble?

Your For You section brings together different ways to explore them, including lessons, videos, games, audio, and chats with historic figures. You can narrow a course to specific subtopics, update your interests in Settings, and choose a format that fits your schedule.

How long does a Nibble session take?

It depends on what you choose. If you have around two minutes, you could watch a short video. With up to five minutes, you could play one round of a game. A longer break of up to 15 minutes can work for an interactive lesson or an AI tutor chat. You can also listen to audio during a car journey or chores.

Can I change my interests in Nibble after I set them up?

Yes. The interests you choose when you first set up Nibble aren't permanent. You can change them in Settings at any time, so the topics in your learning path can change along with your curiosity.

Can I choose only part of a topic in Nibble?

Yes. You can choose specific subtopics within a broader course, so you can focus on the parts that interest you without exploring the whole subject.

How does Nibble help me remember what I learn?

Every interactive lesson ends with Things to Remember, a short recap of the main takeaways. Lessons are grouped into units, and each unit ends with a quiz to check your understanding. For an extra challenge, try recalling the main ideas yourself before reading "Things to Remember," then see what you can recall.

What kinds of games does Nibble have?

Nibble games include building objects, matching pairs, completing pictures, and more. In Match the Pairs, for example, you might connect countries with their flags. In Complete the Picture, you can fill in missing parts of historical photographs by paying attention to visual details.

What can I ask Nibble's AI tutor?

Use the AI tutor for questions that arise while you're exploring a topic and to go beyond the prepared content. It gives you a way to follow whatever piques your curiosity.
